Avalanche Awareness Workshop
This practical one-day Mountain training Association approved course is aimed at anyone who travels in the mountains in winter conditions - walkers, snow-shoers, skiers, climbers. The content of the day follows the Scottish Avalanche Information Service, 'Be Avalanche Aware' process'.
The workshop will cover the background and theory of why avalanches occur and how we can plan appropriate routes when in avalanche terrain and also what to do if someone is caught in an avalanche.
For this workshop it is not essential for winter conditions to be present as much of the background theory and planning will be classroom based. This workshop is an extension to the sessions Bryn William's runs for the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team at the start of each winter season.
For Mountain Training Association (MTA) members this workshop is recognised as 1 point of CPD.
